Yes, they can definitely save lives.
Try checking out some of the online ads, compare the different AED (automated external defibrillator) models, and decide which ones you're interested in. Then take that information to your doctor and get his or her opinion to help you make the final decision. You'll have to see your doctor anyways, because a prescription is required before you can purchase a defibrillator.
