Subject: Nanday Questions
Message: About 3 weeks ago my husband bought me a Nanday Conure named Kiwi. The people he got her from never handled her. I have worked with her continuously over the past few weeks and I can now hold her and she allows me to pet her. I joined another bird forum but there isnt really much about Nanday's. I have a few questions about her. The people told me she is a female and around 3 years old. I want to know whats going to be the easiest and best way to train her. I have tried target training with a small stick and it does not work. She screeches and runs away from it. If I tell her to step up she puts her head down and wants me to pet her. Also I've heard that it is possible to teach her how to talk, I just need some basic care information honestly. Right now she is eating a small parrot food that consists of seeds etc. but she also eats fruits and veggies all day long. Do I still need to give her a supplement?
