Mavrck - I'm gonna just throw this out there, since I have been following your posts with Margaret. My Sun had an episode similar to this about 3 1/2 years ago. The vet took a blood test and said our baby had e-coli & high levels of lead in his blood. Don't know where the e-coli came from - or the lead. I was told to get a lead test kit and test everything the bird was on, around etc. I did and came up with nothing. I decided to test our water as well. Guess what - I came up with a light pink residue - in our water. Even though the city we live in posts the chemical etc. levels in our water and depict them same for humans. Our smaller pets can't tolerate the levels we can. I immediately started giving our bottled water to our bird for drinking, and he bathed in it as well. Needless to say the medicine he was on worked and he was better within a week. I urge you to test your water because even though the levels of everything that is in it is safe for us, our little friends cannot tolerate the same levels we can. It's a place to start anyway.
Our little guy never had a reoccurance of his illness - and it was the joke at the vet that he was the "evian" bird. We have extremely hard water in our home, so we get the 3 gallon large bottles over the crock, and that's what we all consume. Including our birds !! I heat about a gallon to luke warm and that's what they bathe in our kitchen sink !! So I hope you find out at sometime point what could have caused this - Good Luck to both of you !!
