Subject:Re: Plants that are safe?
Message:This site here lists Dracaena Species as safe, plus it specifically indicates the following as safe: Dracaena Massangeana, Dracaena Draco, Dracaena Godseffiana, and Dracaena Marginata. So you probably don't have anything to worry about if your bird accidentally chews on a leaf here or there. I don't think I'd make the plant available for general grazing though. Then you also have to consider whether your plants may have come into contact with wild bird contamination, downy feathers, particles or feces, etc...while spending the warmer months outdoors. Then if you've used (or if you bought these plants from a store or nursery, if they've used) leaf-shine products or any spray-on pesticides on those plants, you would definitely want to keep them away from your birds too. That stuff would be toxic to your birds. Then with all of that said, I don't think any list can be 100% complete so you always need to be careful. I agree with bbyfield, that when in doubt it is best to err on the side of caution. Good luck and stay safe!
