That depands on how attached you want your bird to be to you. We have a very ubique siutuation in our home as we have a Nanday Conure, a Green Cheeked Conure, a Brown throated Conure, a white capped Pionus and a cockatiel that all share an aviary during the day and have their own cages at night. They preen each other and play and keep each other company but still like to be with us. This is not the norm however as usually they bond with each other and prefer to be with each other. They can even become agressive to people. If you do not have time to spend a lot of time with your bird I would reccomend getting it a friend, but do not just put them in a cage together right away and introduce them slowly and only when you are in the room.
